Cider and beer in Thailand have taken a major step forward in 2009 with the appearance earlier this year of some premium beers, both in the UK, France and also Australia. Bangkok-based importer of liquid Asia Pacific now has seven brands of beer which is the final import of these countries, along with two English ciders. Most of these brands are available in both draft and bottles, barrels and the company has imported more brands shot than any other importer in Thailand.
The brands that are available are SmoothFlow Tetley, Pride Victoria Bitter, Stowford Press cider and Weston the UK, the French beer Kronenbourg 1664 and Foster's, Victoria Bitter, Crown Lager and Pure Blonde beer in Australia. And these brands are available in the tourist and expatriate communities around the country with a wider distribution in Bangkok, Pattaya and the eastern coastal area, Phuket, Samui, Hua Hin and Chiang Mai. Today There are several hundred outlets in the country that carry one or more of these brands, whether in bottles or on tap.
By the end of the year in Asia and the Pacific fluids you'll be doing in the brands as well, with beer Grolsch of the Netherlands and Italy's Peroni beer company sign join. This is more good news for lovers of premium beer and can be difficult to appreciate why this is so, without some explanation of the status of beer here in Thailand.
First, in 1930, the government granted a monopoly to a company, Boonrawd Brewery, to brew in the country did under the brand name Singha. This monopoly lasted until the mid-'70s, when several other firms allowed to set up breweries and foreign beers were allowed to import. However, the market is still dominated by Singha, Chang – another mark of Thailand – and developed a local version of Heineken. If one of these beers is not one of the playlist then you are lucky in many places throughout the country, especially if you are a bit off the beaten path.
Second, many companies that the imported beer in Thailand are small, and its funding and often have supply problems arising in bars and restaurants do not have stock for periods of time. Moreover, these companies tend to import almost exclusively bottled beers and not shooting. Imports of beer requires a much greater capital expenditure from sending barrels is more expensive and there are high costs associated with providing all equipment necessary to serve draft beer. A company more well-funded as fluid Asia Pacific has the capital to handle these additional requirements.
Anyway, here are some reasons why it is newsworthy beer drinkers in Thailand when the new brands, especially those of some expats' home countries, come to the Land of Smiles. As time passes, the selection of beer in the United slowly gets better and better with the addition of major brands such as the fluid Asia-Pacific brings in lot of beer drinkers here has taken a major step forward in a short period of time.
