30th Great British Beer Festival 2007
British expats in the USA and those just visiting – what’s your fave store/comparisons of shopping experience?
I go to the US (NV and CA) every year and spend a great deal of time shopping for supplies for a huge festival.
I suppose the main US concept that I like is that it is far, far easier for Joe Public to get hold of items that would be classed as industrial in the UK or regular items but in bulk quantities. For me this includes dry ice, kegs of beer, candyfloss (cotton candy) machine, industrial building equipment and rolls of fabric.
I was in heaven the first time I entered a Home Depot (B&Q on steroids) and couldn’t believe the drive-through lumber yard.
I also love the huge size of the charity shops (thrift stores) with many of them being small warehouse size.
