samuel adams hefeweizen (unfiltered)
August 4th, 2007 by don
This is a cloudy, straw colored beer with a thin head and moderate carbonation. The signature taste and aroma of the hefeweizen style is banana and clove. With many hefeweizens however, I can’t find any hint of banana or clove. I don’t know if it’s just me or if they’re really not there. But I could both smell and taste the banana and clove notes in the sam adams hefeweizen. It’s very clean and smooth with only a light hop taste. There’s nothing innovative or extreme about this brew, but if you want a good example of a hefeweizen, Sam Adams does it about as well as anybody.
