goose island urban wheat

First of all, I like this beer because the label has the number 312 on it. I don’t know for sure what it stands for. I thought maybe it was the address of one of the Goose Island brewpubs in Chicago, but it’s not. Then I figured out that 312 is the area code for central Chicago, so I’m assuming that’s what it’s for. Nevertheless, I like it because 312 was the address of the house I grew up in (which was not in Chicago).
This is another wheat beer, but unlike the Leinie’s, this one has all the makings of a good wheat. It pours a cloudy straw color. The aroma has definite hints of banana. It was a little lighter on the carbonation than I expected, but that didn’t take anything away from the beer. The flavor is smooth and sweet with noticible banana notes, and not overly bready or yeasty. As with most wheat beers there isn’t a lot of hop flavor, but there is enough to give a slight bitterness. All in all, a very good wheat beer.
