millstream schild brau

This beer comes from the Millstream Brewing Company in Amana, Iowa. Schild Brau is German for “shield beer”. I’m not sure what the relevance of that is, but I thought I’d share it anyway.
Schild Brau is Millstream’s signature beer. It’s what they’re known for. It’s their whole raison ‘d etre, so to speak. It’s a vienna style lager, a style which is a personal favorite of mine. Millstream does a pretty decent job with Schild Brau. It’s a slightly cloudy amber color with a sweet aroma. It’s smooth, sweet, and malty at first; then there is a hint of sourness, and finally a bitterness from hallertau hops. It’s worth the price of a six-pack. Next time you’re in Iowa, pick one up.
